The Master of Science in Nursing program at Yale University offers Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner pathways. New students are admitted each fall. You may elect to enroll part-time or full-time, which means you can choose a schedule that best fits your current goals and lifestyle. While part-time students typically complete the program in three years, full-time students usually graduate in two years. In the first year of the program, classes are typically held two days each week on campus. Beginning in the second year, classes are usually on Thursday. However, the schedule may be amended based on several factors.
The Primary Care Pediatric NP program features a 50.5-credit curriculum and includes 756 clinical practice hours. The Acute Care PNP program requires the completion of 52 credits and 752 clinical hours. Clinical placements for the Primary Care PNP pathway include practice sites such as hospitals and community-based primary care clinics, school-based health centers, specialty clinics, and private practices. The Acute Care PNP program includes clinical rotations in pediatric intensive care units, specialty clinics, inpatient settings, and emergency departments. You will also participate in clinical conferences to discuss clinical encounters and current practice issues.
MSN Admission Requirements: If you have a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse, you may apply for admission to the MSN program at Yale University. In addition to completing an online application via NursingCAS, the following must be submitted for review: a current resume or curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, a personal essay, an asynchronous video and timed writing assessment, and official transcripts from all post-secondary schools you previously attended.
Post-Master’s Certificate Program Details: If you are searching for a pediatric nurse practitioner program in Connecticut and have already earned a master’s degree in nursing, the Post-Master’s Certificate program at Yale University is a great option. The Post-Master’s Certificate program offers Pediatric Nurse Practitioner pathways for students interested in either acute or primary care.
Although online options may be available in the future, currently all PMC programs are campus-based. Most students complete the program in two years. However, the time it takes you to complete the program may vary based on your academic background.
