BSN-to-DNP Program Details: Are you a registered nurse with a BSN who is considering getting your DNP and becoming a family nurse practitioner? If so, the University of Vermont has an incredible DNP program that I believe is worth considering! The program admits students in the fall each year and takes eight semesters to complete.
This post-bachelor’s DNP program is an excellent FNP program in Vermont. The program features a 76-credit curriculum that consists of some campus-based classes as well as hybrid courses, which are offered remotely either synchronously or asynchronously. In this program, you will study in classes like Chronic & Complex Conditions Primary Care Management, Primary Care Management of Acute & Common Health Conditions, Women's Gendered Health Care Management, and Primary Care Management of Children & Adolescents.
This program includes a minimum of 1,000 direct and indirect clinical hours. Clinical practicums are arranged in collaboration with program faculty. When possible, clinical assignments may be completed in your hometown. However, if approved clinical sites and preceptors are unavailable, travel closer to campus may be required.
BSN-to-DNP Admission Requirements: To be eligible for admission to the DNP program at the University of Vermont, you need to hold a bachelor's degree in nursing, and you must have a valid RN license in the state of Vermont. Candidates are required to submit three letters of recommendation and official transcripts reflecting a college GPA of 3.0 or higher and showing completion of basic physical assessment and Statistics courses.
Post-Graduate APRN Certificate Program Details: If you have already earned a doctorate in nursing and wish to add the Family Nurse Practitioner certification to your list of specialties, the Post-Graduate APRN Certificate program at the University of Vermont could be the perfect program for you! The program is an excellent opportunity to elevate your career to the next level with a new specialty without having to earn a new degree.
The Post-Graduate APRN Certificate program admits students in the fall semester annually. A GAP analysis is performed to determine a personalized plan of study based on your previous academic transcripts and professional experiences. While some classes are provided in a hybrid format, others require campus attendance.
Post-graduate APRN Certificate Admission Requirements: Candidates desiring admission to the Post-Graduate APRN program at the University of Vermont must have a doctoral degree in nursing and a current RN and/or APRN license. In addition to completing an online application, you must provide three letters of reference, a resume or CV, and official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have previously attended. A minimum college grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is also required.
DEPN Program Details: The Direct Entry Program in Nursing is an accelerated program available to students who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a non-nursing field. The program is designed to be completed in 11 semesters, blending on-site and online learning modalities. The first year of the program requires campus attendance, and the remainder of the program consists of a hybrid learning format.
The first year, known as the prelicensure year, includes 36.5 credits and 810 hours of clinical practicum. After completion of this year, you will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN and obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse. It is important to note that a BSN is not conferred at this point. You will, however, seamlessly transition into the DNP program, at which point you will complete the post-bachelor’s DNP curriculum, which consists of 76 credits and 1,000 clinical hours.
DEPN Admission Requirements: To be considered for admission to the DEPN program, candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher in a non-nursing field with a minimum college grade point average of 3.0. Applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation, a professional resume, a Personal Statement, and copies of transcripts reflecting the minimum GPA and completion of prerequisite courses Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Microbiology, Statistics, & Nutrition.
