Specialties Offered: Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
The program is designed for full-time study and takes three years to complete, including two summer semesters. This BSN-to-DNP program in Wyoming is distance accessible. During the first year of the program, you are required to attend campus in the fall semester for a multi-day orientation and again during the first spring semester to complete intensives. The second year of the program includes a week-long “Clinical Boot Camp” intensive and two to four intensives each semester. In the final year of the program, you will attend campus one to two times each semester to complete intensive skills sessions, clinical days with faculty, and to present your DNP Scholarly Project.
The BSN-to-DNP Family Nurse Practitioner program is a 75-credit pathway that includes 1,080 clinical hours. Students in the Psychiatric Mental Health NP program complete 77 credits and 1,080 clinical hours.
FNP students receive clinical practice experiences in various outpatient areas, including family practice clinics, adult health, women’s health, and pediatrics. The PMHNP program includes clinical experiences in both inpatient and outpatient facilities. Clinical rotations are coordinated by program faculty and staff.
Admission Requirements: Prospective students seeking admission to the BSN-to-DNP program must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a nationally-accredited program or anticipate graduation from a nationally accredited BSN program before the fall start date of the program. Candidates must have an unencumbered Wyoming RN license by the first spring semester.
Applicants are required to complete a Graduate Admission Application and submit an Admission Essay, a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and official transcripts from all post-secondary schools previously attended. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher is required. Viable candidates will be asked to participate in a virtual interview with program faculty before an official offer of admission is granted.
